Aarushi Khurana

In a celebration that beautifully blended cultures, renowned rapper Raftaar and fashion stylist-actress Manraj Jawanda tied the knot on 31st January 2025. From the sacred Laavan of the Sikh Anand Karaj to the tying of the Mangal Sutra in the South Indian wedding, their wedding wasn't just a union of two people, it was a beautiful blend of two rich cultures, a celebration that was equal parts classy and dreamy. Let's dive into the fusion wedding that has the internet in a frenzy.

Manraaj and Raftaar wedding
Dressed in stunning traditional ensembles, the couple got married in a South Indian Kerala-style ceremony.

The celebration commenced with a South Indian wedding in Thiruvananthapuram. The ceremony took place at the crack of dawn, during Muhurtham or Auspicious Timing. During this time, the groom (Raftaar) tied the sacred Mangal Sutra around Manraj's neck, marking their lifelong bond, referred to as "Kanyadaanam" and "Thaali Kettu."

Manraj looked resplendent in a "Pattu" saree, a luxurious silk saree essential for South Indian brides. Pattu sarees are usually made from pure Kanchipuram silk, known for their intricate gold zari work. The bride paired the saree with temple jewelry and jasmine-adorned hair. Raftaar wore a mundu or dhoti with a crisp jubba, and the grand meal was served on banana leaves. The couple embraced Pinterest-worthy aesthetics, and we are not complaining.

The couple also tied the knot in a traditional Anand Karaj ceremony inside a Gurudwara.

Keeping true to Manraj's roots, the couple also tied the knot in an Anand Karaj ceremony inside a Gurudwara. The ceremony began with Ardas, a warm prayer session, and Milni, the beautiful exchange of garlands between families. Instead of the usual seven pheras, the couple took four rounds around the Guru Granth Sahib, called the "Laavan Phere", as sacred hymns blessed their union.

The celebration ended with a Langar feast, which is a humble yet hearty meal, keeping up with the Sikh traditions of community service and togetherness. Manraj looked like an absolute queen dressed in a red lehenga, while Raftaar slayed a royal sherwani with a matching turban.

Their wedding wasn't just about rituals, it was about two cultures, two traditions, and of course, one epic love story. The internet showers them with love, and one thing is pretty clear: Raftaar and Manraj's wedding is officially one for the books!
